Our Leggings Story
Colourful Living is a Proudly South African women’s active and leisurewear brand. Our functional easy-to-wear, unique designs are inspired by acrylic pouring artwork created by our Founder, Leigh. Her belief in colour as being ‘a source of healing, light and love that can change the world,’ prompted her to fashion these vibrant, gorgeous range of gym leggings.

Ever had that moment when a tiny voice plays in your head, ‘Just a quick question, what are you doing with your life? Is this it? Don’t you want more? Don’t you deserve more?’
I’ve been working in Corporate, for someone else’s dream, for over 2 decades so the tiny voice didn’t surprise me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m incredibly grateful for all the opportunities afforded to me. In fact, my experiences in Customer Service and Project Management have given me the confidence to take this quantum leap.
It was time for a change. I wanted more for myself! I wanted to feel more energised, motivated, and most importantly, more purposeful. So at this point, that little voice became more of a foghorn!
Enter the complication. Corporate was all I knew. There had never been a backup plan. I found myself waiting for something to drop from the sky! Shockingly enough, that didn’t happen. I felt isolated as no one had the answers I was looking for. I had to find them within. A journey of introspection began.
I started making small changes to my life focusing on mind, body, and spirit, ate more greens, spent 10 minutes every morning meditating, and educated myself on thinking and feeling differently. Slowly but surely, I began feeling lighter and brighter, more appreciative, grateful and inspired.
How It Started
One afternoon I was randomly delving through that box of Pandora’s called Pinterest looking for some inspiration as to what I could hang on my very sparse walls and happened upon Acrylic Pouring. Oh my word! Mind blown! Something resonated with me and I just went with it. I stocked up on all the materials I needed and got the show on the road! I began experimenting with colour combinations, techniques and pouring mediums. I was like a kid in a candy store!
Playing with paints brought so much joy and excitement into my life! I felt uplifted and challenged as, generally, I had no idea what I was doing, but still, I was creating something tangible, from scratch! This was a totally new experience for me and so empowering! I genuinely believe in magic and miracles, and I was and still am, so grateful for how this magic manifested itself.
A couple of months later, after a wonderful painting session, I went for a walk on the beachfront. I started thinking about how different I felt and what a blessing this new opportunity was. I could feel something purposeful brewing. ‘How could I get my artwork, vision and mission out into the world?’ How could I do this in a way that’s relatable? Then I noticed all the gorgeous women getting their exercise on and BOOM – an idea! ‘How about using my designs and printing them on leggings?’
Leggings could be a fantastic canvas for my art, and it would allow me to share my creativity with others while they express themselves through stylish leggings.
And so Colourful Living was born and a new life adventure began.
